How we calculate
Every number POEV shows follows the same rules, for every car and every brand. This page explains them in plain words — no formulas needed.
POEV Range — real kilometres, not WLTP
The official WLTP figure is a marketing number — everyone knows cars don't go that far in real life. We show what a car like this actually does: on normal roads, at normal speeds, with the climate control on. The result is a range like «450–490 km» — showing the honest spread beats pretending we know exactly. Cold weather gets its own figure (0 °C): winter takes a visible bite out of range. For used cars we also factor in the battery's condition.
POEV Battery Estimate — what similar cars keep
A used EV's battery can't be judged from photos. Unless the seller provides a real measurement, we estimate from cars like the one you're looking at — same battery version, similar age, mileage and climate — and we tell you how reliable that data is (high / medium / low). It's an honest estimate, not a measurement of that exact car — which is why we always tell you how to get a real measurement before paying. When a listing declares a measured value, we quote it under the name of whoever measured it.
POEV Value — what a kilometre of range costs
POEV Value divides the car's price by its real range: how many euros you pay for each kilometre the car can actually do. It makes very different cars comparable at a glance. Where we know what it costs to get a specific car to your region, the price side uses the full cost at your door, not just the sticker.
Where the data comes from
New-car data comes from manufacturers' specifications and official price lists. Used-car verdicts analyse the public data of the listing you send us, plus official recall registries. Every fact we publish has a source behind it, and anything we couldn't verify is marked as such.
Our honesty rules
Estimates are shown as ranges, never as falsely precise numbers. We never present an estimate as a measurement. We don't invent missing data — if a price or a fact has no source, we show nothing rather than guess. And nobody can pay to improve their numbers: we don't take money from sellers or dealers.
Updates
Our methods improve as real-world data accumulates, so figures can be refined over time. Every verdict and comparison states when it was calculated; older pages remain as a dated snapshot of what we knew then.
