Who we are
POEV helps people in Europe buy a used electric car knowing what matters: the battery, the real range, the warranty left and the recall campaigns. Free, no ads, nothing for sale.
What we do
We are building a catalogue of used electric cars and plug-in hybrids from sources that allow us to show their listings. To each car we add what a buyer needs to know and a listing rarely says: which battery version it has, how far it really goes in summer and in winter, what is left of the battery warranty and which recall campaigns apply.
Behind it is our reference of electric cars and plug-in hybrids: every model and version with its battery, real range, battery warranty and price new, in eight languages, with a source for every figure. From each model page you will be able to go to used listings of that model.
What we deliberately do not do
- We never touch the car: no dongle, no plug-in device, no physical measurement, no laboratory.
- We do not issue certificates, and our estimates are not a substitute for one. If you want the battery measured, get a certificate from a company that physically tests the car.
- We do not sell cars or broker them, and nobody can pay us to change our figures.
Who runs it
POEV is a small independent project, not a company with a sales team: one person is behind it, and AI does much of the work — gathering the data, writing the code and the texts. The figures come from fixed rules, the same for every car: How we calculate.
We work across Europe: the catalogue and the reference cover the European market, not one country.
How we calculate
Every figure follows the same rules for every car and every brand. Estimates are shown as ranges with how reliable they are, never as a measurement; a figure without a source is not shown — in its place the page says why: «not public» or «no data».
POEV Range — how far below WLTP
In the model lists, the catalogue and on the home page the range is the official WLTP figure: two figures are the version's WLTP interval across its configurations and wheels, and «up to» marks its upper edge, the most economical configuration, where the lower one is not known. On version and listing pages our estimates say how far below WLTP a car like this usually goes in mixed driving: «Summer (+23 °C)» with the air conditioning off and «Winter (−10 °C)» with the heating on, each as a range in per cent. We work them out from WLTP with the official range calculators of Stellantis, Škoda, Volkswagen, Kia, Cupra, Ford, and Audi: 113 configurations of 47 models, as of .
Not covered by the calculators yet: sports cars (a sports body, or 400 kW and more) and large SUVs and other cars that use a lot of energy (less than 6 km per kWh of battery by WLTP), and the electric range of plug-in hybrids. For them we show the range of ordinary cars and say so next to the figure.
POEV Battery Estimate — what similar cars keep
On model, version and listing pages we show what cars like it typically keep of their battery after a given number of years and kilometres — a range for the group, with how reliable the data is (high / medium / low), based on published studies of large fleets by Aviloo with P3 and by ADAC. It is an estimate, not a measurement: a measurement from a listing is quoted under the name of whoever made it («Aviloo: 86%»), and what a seller says without one is marked «not verified».
Battery warranty
For each model we publish the brand's battery warranty from an official source: years, kilometres and the share of capacity it guarantees, counted from first registration; on a used car the listing shows what is left. Terms we have not found for a model are marked as not confirmed; a rented battery is covered by its rental contract instead.
Recall campaigns
We check battery and charging campaigns for the battery version in the registers of KBA (Germany, through car-recalls.eu) and NHTSA (USA). «None found» does not rule a campaign out, and only the car's VIN shows whether one was carried out on it: ask a main dealer of the brand.

How we collect listings
Our catalogue robot, POEV-catalog, reads the used-car pages of dealers whose websites allow it. It takes each listing as the dealer publishes it — make, model, version, first registration, mileage, price, town, the car's details, description and photos — and the link to the dealer's page. If a website's terms forbid copying photos or texts, it takes only the facts and we ask the dealer for permission.
It visits each website at most once a day, one page at a time, and follows robots.txt and Crawl-delay. If a website's terms change or it refuses access, the robot stops until we have checked.
It also takes the model photos of our reference from Wikimedia Commons: each file once, one at a time. Our pages show our own copy, with the author and licence named.
To stop it, add “User-agent: POEV-catalog” and “Disallow: /” to your robots.txt, or write to info@poev.eu: we remove all your listings at the first request — or only the photos, if that is what you ask.
