Privacy
POEV has no accounts and stores nothing about you as a reader. This page says in plain words what that means, what we keep about sellers whose cars appear in the catalogue, what our hosts see, and what happened to the data of the verdict service that closed on 6 October 2026.
Who is responsible and which law applies
The data controller is the POEV project; contact: info@poev.eu. We process personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU 2016/679) and Spain's Organic Law 3/2018 on personal data protection and digital rights (LOPDGDD).
What we store about readers
Nothing about you. You read the pages, and we don't record who you are or what you looked at. To deliver a page, our host handles the technical data of the request, such as your IP address; we keep none of it in records of our own and don't use it to find out who you are. The legal basis for that handling is our legitimate interest in running the site securely (art. 6.1.f GDPR).
If your car is in the catalogue
The catalogue shows listings of used electric cars from sources that allow it. From a listing we keep the facts of the car — make, model, version, year and date of first registration, mileage, price, the country, region and city where the car is, and the battery condition as the listing states it — plus the link to the listing at its source and its number there. We also keep the other details of the car that the listing gives — colour, model year, number of previous owners, inspection, warranty and equipment — and, unless the source forbids it, its photos and description; we remove the photos at the request of the seller or of whoever took them.
- Private seller who adds a car with our form: we keep the name if given, the phone if given and the email, and publish none of them; we don't keep the car's VIN. A buyer writes to such a seller through the form on the listing: we forward the message to the seller's email with the buyer's address to reply to, and keep neither the message nor that address. We do this because the buyer asks us to send it (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
- Business seller — a company, or a sole trader whose trading name may be a person's name: the business name and contacts. The car's VIN we keep only for a company.
- Legal basis: for a listing from a dealer or a sole trader, our legitimate interest in showing buyers the used electric car market with the facts that matter (art. 6.1.f GDPR). A seller who adds a car to the catalogue themselves does so with consent, which can be withdrawn at any time (art. 6.1.a GDPR). A company's data is not personal data.
- How long: a listing stays while it is on sale at its source. Once it is closed there, we keep it for 12 months and then delete it together with its photos; a seller with no listings left is deleted with the last one. A listing added with our form is shown for 30 days at a time, and the seller extends or removes it from the link in our email; a listing not confirmed within 7 days is deleted with its photos and the seller's details.
- Removal on request: write to info@poev.eu with the link to the listing. We remove it at once; all we keep is its number at the source, so that the next import does not bring it back. A dealer can ask us the same way to remove all of its cars. A seller who used our form removes the listing with one click from the link in our email.
Requests sent before 6 October 2026
Until 6 October 2026 you could send us a listing link and get a battery verdict by email. That service has closed. The requests (emails, listing links, regions, comments, campaign tags) and the facts of the listings we analysed were deleted from our database when it closed. Verdict emails already sent stay in their recipients' mailboxes; we cannot recall them.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and to portability. One email to info@poev.eu is enough. If you sent us a request before 6 October 2026 and want us to confirm that nothing about you remains, write to the same address.
Where to complain
If you think we have mishandled your data, write to us first and we will sort it out. You can also lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD, aepd.es).
Where the data lives
The site runs on Vercel and the catalogue's database on Supabase, both in Ireland (EU), each under its standard EU data-processing agreement. Listing photos, where a source allows them, are stored with Vercel in Paris (EU). We have no database of readers and send no newsletters. Mail to info@poev.eu is received and answered through Apple's iCloud Mail, under Apple's iCloud terms: your message, your address and our reply are kept there. Apple says it generally stores data in the United States and transfers it from the EU under standard contractual clauses. We keep the correspondence in order to answer you — our legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR) — and delete it 12 months after the last message. A request about your data and our reply are kept for 3 years, because the law requires us to handle such requests and to be able to show how we did (art. 6.1.c GDPR). The emails of our form — the link sent to a seller and buyers' messages forwarded to private sellers — go out through Brevo (France, EU) under its data-processing agreement.
